So, Rare remade Goldeneye to be made available via Xbox Live Arcade. They even offered Nintendo a port for the Wii. This was looking awesome, updated HD graphics (with the option to revert back to the old N64 visuals at any point in game with a touch of a button) Online play (including the option to still have the old split screen whilst playing to keep the feel of the original multiplayer). It was going to be awesome.
What did Nintendo turn around and do? They said, "Sorry, Microsoft, you can't do that."
That really, really pissed me off. This was after Rare had spent ages remaking the game (it was virtually complete)... It could have been the most popular release (retail or XBLA) this year...
What do you guys think?

... That's a bloody shame. Goldeneye was an awesome game, and would've been a good experience for people who never got a do the first time around. Seems like while they originally said they weren't going to "compete directly with Sony or Microsoft", they're looking to kick Microsoft to the floor as opposed to making the Wii the best it can be. Stupid.

I remember playing this game on the N64... I think it would be well suited to the Wii however the console is getting an awful lot of ports etc. recently so maybe a new concept would be better?

I'm thinking Nintendo are getting a bit too money grabbing recently - fear of Goldeneye on the 360, and people buying the £160 360 package instead of a Wii to play it leading to rapid sales decreases probably made them turn it down.

I think Nintendo are just getting cocky because they're ahead in the market.
